Stress/Anxiety Management Apps

College can be a stressful time and many students use CAPS as a resource to help address concerns.  Below is a list of free apps that can be a valuable tool in managing anxiety or stress.  The listed apps provide various strategies such as meditation, soothing music, and breathing techniques.  Anyone can benefit from these apps.

1. Relax Melodies – Allows users to sleep through the night and relax with the use of 52+ melodies.  Users can even create their own mixes and combinations of melodies.     

2.  Headspace:  Meditation – This app allows users to relax their mind by providing tips, meditation techniques, and skills to manage stress and anxiety.  It can help the user achieve more effective sleep and improved functioning throughout the day. 

3.  Meditation and Sounds by Verv – Provides meditation courses, relaxation music, quick 5-minute support (stress relief and meditation), and color therapy.

4.  The Mindfulness App – Allows users to relax their mind, using meditation with timed sessions.  Users can keep track of their journey and even customize their own meditations.

  • The APA Help Center is hosted by the American Psychological Association and is full of information designed for non-professionals who want to learn more about various psychological topics. The site also includes a feature that allows visitors to search for mental health providers in their area
  • The National Institute of Mental Health(NIMH) is a really good source of information on mental health topics and issues
