Dr. Jenn Cuchna is an Associate Professor for both the Kinesiology and Health Education programs here at Longwood University. She came to Longwood in 2017 teaching in the Longwood undergraduate athletic training program and and served as the Clinical Education Coordinator until August of 2022.
She completed her PhD in summer 2017 from Old Dominion University (ODU - Norfolk, VA) in Health Services Research. Her dissertation and other related works completed at ODU pertained to the use of standardized patients in both athletic training and physical therapy curricula as a beneficial educational strategy. While at ODU, she worked clinically as an certified athletic trainer (ATC) for The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters as a clinical outreach ATC in Virginia Beach for a local middle (Brandon) and high (Tallwood) school.
Prior to arriving at ODU, she worked at Methodist University (Fayetteville, NC) as a dually appointed Athletic Trainer and Instructor in their undergraduate athletic training program working with Men's and Women's Soccer, Softball and Men's and Women's Tennis. She worked at Methodist University for eight years and also completed her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) concentrating in Organization and Leadership in 2012.
Prior to Methodist University, she earned a Masters of Education (MEd) from Campbell University (Buies Creek, NC) where she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer from 2003-2005 working with the Men's Soccer, Softball, and Wrestling teams.
She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida (UCF - Orlando, FL) in 2003 in Athletic Training. While in the undergraduate curriculum at UCF she encountered a variety of experiences at local public and private high schools, NCAA Division II Private Athletic programs, NCAA Division I Public Athletic programs and Professional Arena Football. She is originally from Kissimmee, FL but has lived in VA for the past 11 years.
